However, there is no fixed or generalized solution. In this thesis, Nonlinear Programming and time-based Control Point Policy were applied in sequence to solve the production scheduling problems at a high volume industry. The strategy provided the company a systematic way to tackle production problems. A distinct tradeoff between average inventory and frequency of changeover is observed. A recommended selection is made based on minimizing total cost (inventory holding cost and changeover cost).
