A forecast of prices, rents and construction in the Salt Lake City-Ogden Metropolitan Area
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis thesis will center on the housing market of the Salt Lake City-Ogden Metropolitan Statistical Area. The paper will explore in detail as much as possible what has driven and continues to drive the SLC-Ogden economy. It will look at historical economic indicators of population, employment and wages and how the housing market has moved in conjunction with these indicators. With this background, it will try to make as educated projection as possible at what rate these economic indicators (and in turn, the area economy) will continue to grow. With these projections, this thesis will then use regression analysis to forecast single family home prices, rents of multi-family units, and future construction of both types of housing for the Salt Lake City-Ogden metro area.
