StreamIt, a language for the development of streaming applications, has a hierarchical and structural nature that lends itself to a graphical programming tool. I created a prototype StreamIt Graph Editor (SGE) to facilitate the development of streaming applications using StreamIt. The SGE provides intuitive visualization tools that allow developers to work more efficiently by automating certain processes. Thus, the programmer can focus more on design issues than on low level details that slow down the development process.","abstract_html":"A programming language is more useful if it provides a level of abstraction that makes programming more intuitive and also allows the development of tools that take advantage of the language's internal representation.
