A Gesture Recognizing Tool for Virtual Presentations

Due to the format of many common video-conferencing platforms used to deliver virtual presentations, the speaker is often placed far away in the user interface of the video-conferencing platform from the slides they are presenting. As a result, there is a strong lack of connection between the speaker and their visual content during virtual presentations. However, a virtual presentation also provides a format where recent technology can be used to elevate what normally is a point-and-click talk with slides. This work presents a new system for virtual presentations that will be more engaging and more interactive for both the audience and the speaker. By utilizing a LeapMotion sensor for gesture tracking, we can implement a web app that can be combined with slides and video input to decrease the distance between a speaker and their visual content.
