Economic evaluation of wheat production in Zimbabwe

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

"Objective Of The Study: The objective of this study is to identify some of the major factors that constrain wheat production. In addition, the study is to identify means of improving wheat production within the present resource constraints with a goal of reach ing self-sufficiency and thereby conserving foreign exchange. Given these facts, the specific objectives are as follows: 1. To show the impact of wheat prices with regard to increasing the acreage of wheat. 2. To determine if wheat farmers are price-responsive. 3. To determine if the price of alternative crops, in this case maize, cotton, and tobacco, affect the production of wheat. 4. To consider the influence of time in increasing the acreage of wheat."--Page 6.
