CHARACTERIZATION OF IMMUNE RESPONSE IN EXPERIMENTAL MOUSE MODELS

Abstract

dc:description

This PhD research project aimed to investigate immune system functions in healthy and pathologic experimental murine models, through immunohistochemical characterization of immune cell populations in healthy steady state, inflammatory and neoplastic settings. The following fields were investigated: Study I – Mononuclear phagocyte system cells in murine healthy organs and selected pathological conditions. Study II – Sex-dependent modulation of inflammation in a murine caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis model. Study III – Comparison between two methods of digital image analysis (hot-spot fields vs whole-slide) for the assessment of immune cell infiltrations in a murine caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis model. Study IV – Tumor immune system interaction in a murine model of orthotopic pleural mesothelioma.
