Fähigkeiten Schweizer Unternehmen zur Stärkung von Absorptionskapazität und Innovationskultur durch den Einsatz holistischer IoT-Strategien
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThe dissertation with the title «Abilities of Swiss companies to strengthen the absorption capacity and innovation culture by the application of holistic IoT strategies» examined whether and to what extent Swiss companies are able and willing to react adequately to changes caused by the IoT (Internet of Things) in the business environment. A focus is laid on small and middle-size enterprises in Switzerland. As a result of the analysis key drivers can be mentioned. Namely an increased efficiency or effectiveness and cost reduction, the use of available cloud structures, the application of new sensors, the stage of the market development, the outside effect, the speed in the development of applications, the evaluation of future dates, the culture in companies and, finally, the existence of an IoT budget as well as the cooperation with internal and external partners (independent of manufacturer) must be pointed out. It became clear that in particular the offered potentials are useful to the fact that Swiss companies think more intensely about their role in acting with IoT-technologies. Indeed, this does not happen yet completely with the necessary stringency and consequence. Hence, the current level of knowledge of the companies in Switzerland to the investigation topic must be called low, although existing business models and markets find out a clear danger by the developments in the IoT-sector. Swiss companies search partly external support for coping of the changes, however they do not show any action in unknown fields with the result that the chances and risks well not be recognized. The absence of standards and a not available (market) transparency and the readiness to argue with an unsafe environment is relevant. The obstacles for Swiss company in dealing with the IoT are found in the security demand of the companies, in questions of the security of the technology, in a being absent expert´s assessment (internal Skills), a high cost pressure, in uncertainties with regard to from structures and trials to work with a huge amount of data ("Big Data"), a being absent standardization, open questions to the regulation, a being absent transparency in the market as well as the question, to what extent the readiness of an adaptation of business models and trials exists (shortage of information). As adjusting factors for the holistic application of IoT in Swiss companies the identification of the national innovative capacity as well as the increase of efficiency and effectiveness by the IoT is to be mentioned. As an obstacle the conversion of the IoT or the existence of dependable information about the conversion of the IoT at company can be mentioned. Stand: 5.6.2020 Seite 2 von 2 As a recommendation for the rise of the national absorbable and innovative capacities of Switzerland concerning the IoT can be formulated that the readiness must be raised at the companies to raise the know-how in the IoT context by the integration of third. Besides the state is demanded to clear open regulatory questions to offer a bigger juridical security with possible conversions the companies. Thus, companies can be transferred in the situation to recognise chances in the IoT context on time.
