Umsetzungsstarke Teams bei der Flugsicherung in der Schweiz am Beispiel Skyguide AG – Teams im Fokus Volition

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This research project investigates the extent to which strengthening the volition of a team can positively influence the innovative power of a company. The focus is on the Swiss aviation industry. On the air traffic control company Skyguide because it is facing great challenges, which has intensified by the corona pandemic crisis. To cope with the situation, innovative teams with strong implementation capabilities needed. These teams must be flexible, agile and goal oriented. How such teams can be formed, which criteria must be fulfilled, and which framework conditions make success possible, is examined in this work. The embedding of air traffic control in the aviation industry has had an influence on the selected training and team development measures in the past. Team development has been a key issue in aviation for over 30 years. However, at Skyguide all efforts did not deliver the hoped-for success. The present research work closes this gap by means of a newly developed concept. The Team- Volition-Intervention-Concept (TVIK) closes the existing research gap in the field of aviation, Crew Resource Management (CRM), High Reliability Organization (HRO), Business Administration (BWL) and personality psychology and offers practical development opportunities for teams and individuals. Proven concepts from the aviation industry are selected, to increase the connectivity and acceptance among Skyguide employees. The most important factors influencing team volition identified, tested, and enriched with practical knowledge by means of literature and method research, guided and partially standardized expert interviews. As a result of this research project, the following influences on the implementation strength of teams are detected: 'team volition', 'team members', 'team organization', 'team leadership', 'team development' and 'enterprise'. Each main aspect is formed from various sub-aspects. As a central basis, the framework conditions and the corporate culture have proven to be decisive. All aspects influence each other, have an impact on the team volition and must be developed in a team through recurring reflections and appropriate measures. To build the bridge from theory to practice, the TVIK offers tips and supporting checklists that facilitate the applicability of the TVIK in a company.
