A self-reflective and practitioner-researcher approach to interprofessional practice in mental health settings

This context statement is the commentary and analysis of five public works that resulted from my work-based learning and reflective practice in interprofessional teams in the UK. I reflect on their implications for the healthcare system’s current practices in psychiatric care, specifically, not exclusively. Interprofessional collaboration occurs when individuals from different fields work and communicate to achieve a shared goal; healthcare aims to ensure high-quality and safe patient treatment. As a medical graduate working in mental health in British public and private hospitals, I explore the five public works from my professional perspective. Based on the findings of these works, I posit middle-range theories for evidence-based applications in interprofessional practice. These works explore the dynamic interplay between practice-based evidence (PBE) and evidence-based practice (EBP). They aim to discover effective interprofessional procedures to appeal to policymakers and suggest plans for implementing better collaborative care to advance the standard of care and patient safety.
