It marks the beginning of the episcopacy of Thomas Lewis O’Beirne and his programme of reform and improvement in the Church of Ireland diocese of Meath, which left many of the Meath diocesan clergy ready for the ‘Second Reformation’ in 1822. The year 1861, and the death of Rev.
