Revitalization of Valletta as a capital city vis-à-vis its population (age and migration)

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Up till the present day, there have been several plans and projects going on in Valletta. But unfortunately when it comes to take a position and start putting in practise what urban planners and concerned authorities state everything is discarded and one has to start everything from zero especially due to bureaucratic issues. The researcher believes that Valletta is the Capital of which all Maltese and Gozitans should be proud of and that the city's appearance should reflect its pride, identity and history. Thus the overall scope of this thesis is mainly to propose a possible methodology; as pointed out by the hundred residents taking part in the questionnaire, of how this World Heritage City can be rehabilitated. To revitalize the city Valletta's role should not only be viewed as the hub of business, leisure and culture in order to attract more tourists but one has to keep an open eye on residences, since in Valletta there is a problem as regards dwellings. A holistic approach has to be adopted in such a way to attract not only foreigners but especially Maltese citizens.
