The concepts of weight, area and volume in the primary school

Eighty Maltese pupils in year three and four of the primary school 1r1ere tested for conservation of weight, area and volume. Weight was conserved first, followed by area and volume. These results ware compared with a similar research of E.R. Hughes. Implications of this research and a teaching approach for the development of these concepts followed.
