Abstract
dc:description.abstractArchitectural space forms part of the much wider notion of social Space, which embodies the ongoing conceived, perceived, and lived spatial realities within it. The study is presented as a process which unfolds the relationship between the architectural discipline and society, in order to explore the potential role of the architect as an enabler of architectural and social Space, in order to facilitate man’s need to dwell. This is studied through the investigation of the poetic function in architecture which operates through the ethically based vectors which are giver direction to the forces which mutate the repertoire of society through architectural gestures. The Spatial Agency framework presents a number parameters which were appropriated in this study as potential vectors through which the poetic function could be enabled, n order to mutate the architecture game. These vectors were then used as guiding principles for the closer understating of various poetic actors in which operate within the local architecture game. In doing so, the dissertation seeks to gain a better understanding on the role of the architect in society, and the architectural professions embodied potential in the production of an architecture which arises out of dwelling.
