Initially, I focused my work on three Maltese schools which cater for the education of Italian foreigners residing in the island. These students were interviewed and a short analyses about them and about the approaches adopted in these schools is tackled in 2.0 and 3.0. However, these offered a limited framework which could not permit me to understand fully the mechanism of Italian education. By participating in the student exchange scheme offered by the Universities of Malta and Macerata, I was able to visit a number of schools in Macerata and through a series of questionnaires, interviews, class and school observations, general information about each level in the Italian education system was gathered (4.0). Particular attention is given to the primary and the secondary sectors. Following is a short chapter (5.0) dealing with the evaluation methods adopted in Italian teaching. The teaching of the second language is widely discussed in 6.0 due to the interesting methods and resources which Italians are utilising to render L2 instruction successful. General observations and conclusions are presented in 7 .0. Suggestions are put forward about the possibility of Maltese teachers adopting such techniques in teaching the Italian language.","abstract_html":"This research analyses mainly the Italian educational system.
