Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This dissertation gives an overview about the growth of the labour market in financial services in the Maltese economy during the last decade. Special reference is made to post-secondary education. Interviews are carried out with employers and representatives in the related field. Questions refer to recruitment policies regarding qualifications and skills. Educational responses explain the development of institutions and new courses in order to be able to promote workers with the knowledge and ability required. A detailed account is given of changes in courses during the last decade and the education's role in the provision of an able workforce to work within the financial services sector. This dissertation also aims to find out what are the prerequisites of financial services companies, that is what employers would like to see in an employee.
