A Selected Bibliography Suitable for Use in Overseas Missionary Nursing Preparation

<p>Missionary nursing, as one form of nursing and as a method of endeavor, has been neglected in both nursing and mission literature.</p> <p>It was the purpose of this study to identify, classify, and list bibliographical material which is applicable and would serve as a source of information to those preparing for, and directing others towards, overseas mission nursing.</p> <p>The material for the bibliography was obtained through three sources (1) twenty-five institutions of religious education which offered courses in missions, (2) personal interviews, and (3) personal library research. The volumes included in this bibliography were selected on the basis of the date of publication, alphabetically to the subject, and sustainability to the readers. These were classified under five major aspects of overseas mission nursing, which were: (1) Missionary nursing functions, (2) Missionary nursing and interracial relations, (3) Missionary nursing and interpersonal relations, (4) Missionary nursing and interracial evangelism, and (5) Missionary nursing and interracial communications.</p> <p>General work on mission philosophy and endeavor were considered to be valid for describing the missionary function of overseas nursing.</p>
