These results suggest that optimum calcification in <em>B. orbigniana</em> should take place from late spring to early autumn. Q<sub>10 </sub>values for 3-21°C averaged 3.39 indicating an enzyme-governed reaction. It is proposed that thallus growth rate and calcification are not directly related.
