The purpose of this study is to identify the component processes within procedures for interpretative analysis and planning of landscapes within National Parks and other reserves. These processes will be analysed in terms of: 1. The elements which compose specific landscapes and the inter-relationships between them. 2. The planning procedures in the identification of appropriate interpretative story lines. The Franz Joseph Glacier Valley and its associated physiological features within Westland National constitutes the study area,
