Autocompasión y evitación experiencial, una relación inversa en adultos jóvenes de Lima Metropolitana
Abstract
dc:description.abstractSelf-compassion is proposed to be an important mechanism for alleviating the human suffering and understanding its avoidance; however, few investigations have provided empirical evidence about the phenomenon. The present scientific study aims to analyze the relationship between self-compassion (AC) and experiential avoidance (EE) in young adults from Metropolitan Lima. A total of 243 participants were evaluated through non-probability convenience sampling. For the measurement of the variables, two scales adapted to the Peruvian context were used: Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and Acceptance and Action Scale II (AAQ-II). The results showed a strong and negative relationship between self-compassion and experiential avoidance. As expected, experiential avoidance was negatively related to the positive dimension of AC (self-kindness, common humanity, mindfulness) and positively to the negative dimensions (self-judgment, isolation, over-identification). Complementary analyzes were carried out and were found differences based on sex. The present research provides empirical support on the use of self-compassion as a therapeutic tool.
