Construyendo la educación: infraestructura como determinante del rendimiento académico en el Perú 2000-2015
Abstract
dc:description.abstractThere are several factors within the educational demand that affect student performance. In Peru, education in comparison to other countries at the international level shows a disadvantage, with education being one aspect to be improved in the country. This paper focuses on the study of variables related to the infrastructure of the country's educational institutions, and the impact of these on the academic performance of students in Reading comprehension and mathematics. In this regard, results will be presented following estimates of static and dynamic panel data, to address the effects of these variables over time. Among the main findings, it was observed in the estimation of static panel data and dynamic panel data that variables such as poor level of heating and access to computers with internet are the factors with the highest priority for high achievers. On the other hand, low achievers perceive the main factor as lack of study materials. In addition, other factors such as the management of educational institutions, the role of teachers and the gender gap are also recognised as having an effect on student performance.
