Mnemopoetics. Memory and Slavery in African-American Drama (1939-1996)

Abstract

dc:description

Through the textual and contextual analysis of selected African American plays, I have probed the various mnemopoetic strategies used by the playwrights to explore a past branded by the experience of slavery. The mnemopoetics of slavery appears to be irreducibly linked to a militant mnemopolitics of identity.
