In this study I investigate the role of music interventions and experiences in music therapy to promote self-concept and identity formation and validation. I analyzed six articles for their contexts, mechanisms, and outcomes. I then built an initial rough program theory (IRPT) regarding music programming for adolescents in various contexts.
