Zhou Long’s Partita exemplifies his innovative approach, combining Chinese folk elements such as pentatonic scales, imitation of traditional Chinese instruments, and unconventional tonalities with contemporary Western compositional techniques. In this title, Whispers suggests a soft, intimate voice — a metaphor for the subtle, lyrical expression of northern Chinese folk elements in Zhou Long’s music.
