Abstract
dc:description.abstractThere are many types of travelers and many ways to travel. Some travel for business, some travel for pleasure. Some travel to gain a new perspective, engage in new experiences, and make new friends. In an era where it's easy to get lost in cyberspace, there is a generation that is propelling a conscious effort to escape the static lifestyle and interact with the physical world. The growth of social travel is changing the tourism industry as social travel websites replace traditional tour operators. The increasing popularity of social travel is due to the rising class of Generation Y (Gen Y), as well as technological advancements in areas to support collaboration of small groups. This thesis examines topics revolving around social travel, observes how small groups interact to achieve travel planning goals, and proposes a design solution developed from iterations of quick prototyping and user testing.
