Seventeen launched in 1944 and currently has a target audience of 17 to 22 year-old-girls, however, the median age of its readers is 16.5. Through a quantitative content analysis of the articles of every issue in the year 2009, messages related to third-wave feminism were examined. This study used four themes of the third-wave introduced by previous researchers, as well as six new themes that were developed specifically for this study based on previous readings. This study concludes that the value of the new research framework is more pertinent to some of the key values of the third-wave and highlighted some key concepts that the previous research framework failed to acknowledge. This study concludes that some concepts the magazine promotes are the importance of heterosexual relationships, celebrities as role models, beauty and fashion tips, and tips on being flirtatious, thus reflecting the values of the third feminism wave.","abstract_html":"This study employs a quantitative content analysis of the magazine Seventeen.
