Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn this paper, I introduce the process for developing, promoting, and implementing a new Web-exclusive product for the English editions of Linux Magazine. First, I look at the magazine's resources, needs, and market and at research methods. After determining the need for and resources required to create a blog about women in Linux and open source technologies, I look at existing research findings and articles about women in open source. I then analyze the competition and propose a blog that "highlights" women, called ROSE Blog: Rikki's Open Source Exchange (http://linuxpromagazine.com/roseblog). The paper includes sample blog feature articles and regular blog entries. Finally, I conclude with an overview of the results and a look toward future promotion efforts and ancillary products.
