Blas Atehortúa And His Three Pieces For Solo Clarinet Op. 169

This dissertation explores the musical and historical dimensions of Blas Atehortúa's Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet, illuminating his early compositional career and its significance in Colombian music. Atehortúa, one of Colombia's most celebrated composers, blends classical forms with avant-garde techniques in a neoclassical trait transversal to all his oeuvre. Through a detailed analysis of the thematic development, pitch class, and formal structure of the Three Pieces, this study sheds light on Atehortúa's compositional techniques. It also explains the diversity of his style and his unique musical language.
