For example, RDBMS is easy to understand and to access the data, and ODBMS has high performance to handle complex data. When we combine RDBMS and ODBMS's features, we get ORDBMS (Object-Relational Database Management System), from which we can inherit good features.</p> <p>XML is a very hot topic now, particularly in web applications. More and more web applications employ XML as a standard to exchange data. This trend will continue in the future. Since XML is basically an object model, it will become more compelling to consider an ODBMS for a web site to store and get object data.</p> <p>In this paper, we will introduce some features ofORDBMS and XML and we will add some simple XML functions to an ORDBMS example, which is XDB. We can find that ORDBMS with XML features will work very well to handle data that is widely used in the web.
