Many businesses and organizations today have critical and sensitive data and information that is vital to the survival of that business. Therefore, it is essential that municipalities and businesses account for the risks of natural disasters, outages, and errors. This involves having a proper information technology disasters recovery plan in place that would eliminate any risk of losing that data forever, should a disaster occur this paper seeks to examine virtualization technologies and the impact virtualization could potentially have on municipalities by using it for disaster recovery.
