Middle School Teachers' Perceptions of the Georgia Class Keys Teacher Evaluation Instrument
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The purpose of this study was to explore middle school teachers' perceptions of the Georgia CLASS Keys teacher evaluation instrument. The researcher conducted interviews with an array of Georgia middle school teachers from diverse regions of the state, drawn from a purposeful sample. The researcher followed a semi-structured interview format to generate data for the study. Data from the study were analyzed using a basic interpretive approach. Teacher participants in this study noted several areas of concern relative to CLASS Keys. Participants expressed concerns regarding the clarity, purpose, administrative requirements, and negligible impact on student learning. The findings from this study enabled the researcher to make several recommendations regarding middle school teacher evaluation in the state of Georgia.</p>
