A secondary purpose was to try to understand the role that chapter culture might play in the success of the program in changing college fraternity members' drinking behaviors. A mixed methods approach, with the results of quantitative data analysis informing the qualitative portion of the study, was utilized by the researcher. -- The researcher in this study did not find evidence to support ASTP as an effective alcohol education program for reducing high-risk drinking and its associated negative consequences among fraternity members. However, the researcher did identify certain elements of the ASTP program which do seem to be viewed as useful by members of college fraternities and that facilitator style was viewed as very important by participants.
