Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THE PRESENT WORK THE GENERATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF SELF- EXCITED VIBRATIONS IN TURNING AND IN MILLING OPERATIONS IS CONSIDERED THROUGH A DEVELOPED TIMEDOMAIN SIMULATION MODEL FOR ITS APPLICATION THE PROPOSED MODEL NEEDS THE EXPERIMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF THE TRANSFER FUNCTIONS OF THE VIBRATIONAL SYSTEM MACHINE TOOL-TOOL WORKPIECE IN THE CUTTING REGION, AS WELL AS THE EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF CONSTANTS THAT ARE INTRODUCED TO THE USED CUTTING FORCE ANALYTICAL EXPRESSION. BY CALCULATING THE WEIGHT FUNCTIONS FROM THE MEASURED TRANSFER FUNCTIONS AND BY FADING THE MODEL WITH VALUES OF CUTTING PARAMETERS, THE RELATIVE VIBRATION BETWEEN TOOL AND WORKPIECE ITS NUMERICALLY CALCULATED, WITH THE RESULT ONINDICATION OF THE CHATTER EVOLUTION. SO IT IS POSSIBLE TO DERIVE DYNAMICALLY LIMITING CUTTING CONDITIONS AND TO SET CORRESPONDING STABILITY CHARTS. THE VALIDITY OF THIS METHODOLOGY IS VERIFIED THROUGH EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS AND APPEARS TO BE A GOOD APPROACH TO THE MECHANISM OF CHATTER GIVING RESULTS BEING CLOSETO REALITY.
