ΠΡΟΣΡΟΦΗΣΗ U, TH, BA ΚΑΙ CS ΑΠΟ ΟΡΥΚΤΑ ΤΗΣ ΑΡΓΙΛΛΟΥ ΚΑΙ ΣΥΝΘΕΤΙΚΑ ΟΡΥΚΤΑ-ΕΚΛΕΚΤΙΚΟΤΗΤΑ ΚΑΙ ΔΕΣΜΕΥΣΗ ΤΟΥ CS
Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE BEHAVIOUR OF VERMICULITE AS ADSORBENT OF URANYL IONS WAS FOUND TO BE IDENTICAL TO MONTMORILLONITE, WHEREAS THE QUANTITY OF THE ADSORBED HYDROXY. THE IONS WAS MUCH LOWER THAN ITS THEORETICAL CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY. THE LATER IS ATTRIBUTABLE TO A BLOCKING OF VERMICULITE'S CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY BY HYDROXY-TH ISLANDS ADSORBED IN INTERLAYER. THE ADSORPTION PHENOMENA ABEAR TO OBEY THE LANGNUIV TYPE AQUATION. THE SYNTHETIC MINERAL FAUJASTICE AND ETTRINGITE WERE FOUND TO BE VERY SENSITIVE AND UNSTABLE IN THE ACID ENVIRONMENT OF THE URANIUM AND THORIUM SOLUTIONS. CASSIUM SELECTIVITY COEFFICIENTS (KG) THAT WERE DETERMINED WITH RESPECT TO NA-, MG-, CA-, SR- AND BO- IONS FOR KENT AND LIBBY VERMICULITES RANGED FROM 4.8 TO 11 (L/MOL)1/2 MUCH HIGHER THAN THOSE WITH RESPECT TO K- AND NH4- IONS (0.01 TO 0.06) INDICATING THE HIGH AFFINITY OF VERMICULITE FOR THE WEAKLY HYDRATED CATIONS. HIGHER K4 VALUES WERE ALSO FOUND FOR LOW AND EXTREMELY LOWCS CONCENTRATIONS. VERMICULITES WERE VERY EFFECTIVE IN REMOVING 137 CS FROM SOLUTIONS CONTAINING TRACES OF 137 CS (4MG/L) AND EXTREMELY HIGHER QUANTITIES OF K-, NH4-, NA-, MG AND CA-IONS, VERMICULITE SHOWED A HIGH PREFERENCE AND FIXING ABILITY FOR CS SUGGESTING THE USE OF THIS MINERAL AS A RADIOACTIVE CS DECONTAMINATING AGENT.
