IN THE TUBERS SAPONINS, SAPOGENINS, TRITERPENIC ACIDS, STARCH, FREE AND BONDED SUGARS (ANABINOSE, WHAMNOSE, XYLOSE, FRUCTOSE, GLUCOSE, AND GALACTOSE), TANNINS, LEUCOANTOCYANIDIUS, CATEHINES, PHENOLIC ACIDS AND LIPIDS HAVE BEEN DETECTED BUT THE SEARCH FOR QUINONES WAS NEGATIVE. AMINO ACIDS AND FLAVONOIDS HAVE BEEN ALSO DETECTED IN THE TUBERS AS WELL AS IN THE LEAVES. IN THE TUBERS STEROLS, FATTY ACIDS AND FLAVONOIDS WERE IDENTIFIED USING CLASSICAL TECHNIQUES (PC,TLC,CC,HPLC,UV,IR,NMR,MS,GLC,HYDROLYSIS). THE FLAVONOIDS ARE FOUR GLUCOSIDES OF DIHYDROKAEMPFEROL (3-0- GALACTOSIDE, 3-0-GLU 3-0-GALACTOSYL-GLUCOSIDE AND 3-0-GLUCOSYL- GLUCOSIDE) AND THE QUENKETIN-3-0-GLUCO IN THE LEAVES HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED THE FLAVONOIDS: QUERKETIN-3-0-GALACTOSIDE (HYPERIN) KAEMPFEROL-3-GLUCOSYL-RHAMNOSIDE, VICENIN-2, KAEMPFEROL, QUERCETIN, MYRICETIN AND FOUR FLAVONOIDS IN SMALLER AMOUNTS WHICH PRESUMABLY CAN BE IDENTIFIED TO WERE GOSSYPETINE-7-METHYL ETHER, 3',4',DI-04-ISOFLAVONE 7 METHYL ETHER, 8-OH- E.
