Abstract
dc:descriptionMATERIAL DAMPING AND ASSOCIATED ENERGY DISSIPATION IN A VIBRATING PLATE RESULTSIN A TEMPERATURE INCREASE. GIVEN THE HARMONIC MOTION OF THE BOUNDARY, THE STEADY VIBRATION OF PLATES AND THE DAMPING HEAT, GENERATED IS COMPUTED. THEN THE HEAT CONDUCTION EQUATION YIELDS THE TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION. THE INVERSE PROBLEM, TO FIND THE PLATE VIBRATION FROM THE TEMPERATURE FIELD IS NOT WELL-POSED AND THE EQUATION ARE NON LINEAR. A FINITE DIFFERENCE APPROACH WITH A RELAXATION ITERATION TECHNIQUE, TOGETHER WITH A CAREFUL OBSERVATION OF IDENTIFICATION SCHEME FROM INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY OR OTHER MEANS OF TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT ON A VIBRATING STRUCTURE.
