Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THIS THESIS THE PROBLEM OF THE PROPAGATION OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD INSIDE A STRATIFIED CONDUCTING MATERIAL IS EXAMINED. THE EXCITATION IS A CURRENT DIPOLE ARBITRARILY ORIENTED LOCATED INSIDE THE CONDUCTING MATERIAL. A Τ-Ω METHOD ACCOMPANIED WITH A BOUNDARY ELEMENT TECHNIQUE IS USED FOR THE EVALUATION OF THEFIELD INSIDE THE CONDUCTING MATERIAL. THE GREEN'S FUNCTION METHOD IS USED TO TRANSFORM THE HELMHOLTZ'S EQUATIONS FOR THE ELECTRIC VECTOR POTENTIAL T AND THE MAGNETIC SCALAR POTENTIAL Ω INTO INTEGRAL ONES. FINALLY A SYSTEM OF ALGEBRAIC SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS IS FORMED BY THE USE OF A BOUNDARY ELEMENT TECHNIQUE. IN THIS SYSTEM THE NUMBER OF UNKNOWNS IS GREATER THAN THE NUMBER OF EQUATIONS AVAILABLE. THUS, SOME ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS RELETING THE FIELD QUANTITIES SHOULD BEADDED TO THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS, SO THAT THE SOLUTIONS OF THE PROBLEM COULD BE ACHIEVED. ONE OF THE ADVANTAGES OF THE METHOD IS THAT IT HAS SOME DEGREES OF FREEDOM BETWEEN T AND Ω, WHICH INTRODUCE A FLEXIBILITY IN CHOOSING RELATIONS BETWEEN THESE TWO QUANTITIES. BESIDES THE METHOD DECREASES THE DIMENSIONALITY OF THE PROBLEM BY ONE.
