THIS DISSERTATION PRESENTS MODELS FOR TWO DIFFERENT NETWORK ARCHITECTURES WHICH LEAD TO OPTIMAL USE OF THE CHANNEL CAPACITY UNDER REALISTIC CONSTRAINTS AND OPTIMIZATION FUNCTIONS. FIRSTLY, ONE-LEVEL NETWORKS ARE EXAMINED. THE MAIN CHARACTERISIC OF THE ONE-LEVEL-NETWORK MODEL IN COMPARISON TO OTHER WELL KNOWN MODELS PURSUING TRAFFIC-ROUTING IS THAT INCLUDES TWO PHASES IN ROUTING; SO THE MODEL SIZE AND THE COMPUTER TIME NEEDED FOR ITS SOLUTION IS SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED.
