Υγιεινολογικός έλεγχος των πόσιμων υδάτων του γεωγραφικού διαμερίσματος Ηπείρου

The objective of this was the determination of the sanitary condition of potable water in the region of Epirus. The bacterial indicators of water pollution (total count, total coliforms, fecal coliforms and enterococci) were used in this study. Also, 334 strains grown on the m-Endo agar (enterobacteriaceae) were further identified. Fifteen hundred and fifty samples of potable water from the region of Epirus were examined. The techniques of Most Probable Number and the Membrane filtration were used for the laboratory examination. The indentification of the bacteria was performed using the Enterotube II (Roche). The water samples were collected from spring, wells, water reservoirs, water deports and public water supply systems. Seven hundred and fifty eight samples of water (48,9%) were found to be acceptable for drinking and domestic use. No microorganisms were identified in this group of samples. Microorganisms were identified in the rest of the samples examined (792 samples, 51,1%). The presence of microorganisms rendered these samples unsuitable for human consumption or domestic use (45.3% were classified as totally unsuitable and 5.8% as suspicious). The species isolated were E. Coli, Enterobacter agglomerans, Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Klebsiella pneumonia, Citrobacter freundii and Yersinia enterocolitica.
