COLUMNS OF THREE PARENT MATERIALS (APLITIC GRANITE, MICACEOUS SAND, CHLORITE SCHIST) WERE PUT INTO A CHAMBER OF CONSTANT TEMPERATURE (40 C) AND SUBJECTED TO LEACHING WITH DISTILED WATER AND SOLUTIONS (0,01M) OF GALLIC, CITRIC, SULFURIC, LACTIC AND SALICYLIC ACIDS, IN ORDER TO STUDY THEIR WEATHERING EFFECTIVENESS . FOR THIS, THE MONTHLY AMOUNTS OF FE AND AL LEACHED WERE DETERMINED FOR A PERIODOF 12 MONTHS. GENERALLY, FROM THE REAGENTS USED CITRIC ACID WAS THE MOST EFFECTIVE IN EXTRACTING FE AND AL FROM THE THREE SELECTED PARENT MATERIALS.
