Η διαχρονική εξέλιξη του αριθμού και η χωροταξική κατανομή των φαρμακείων στην Ελλάδα
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe subject of the present study is the evolution in time of pharmacies in Greece and their spatial distribution in all regions of the country. The number of dinpencenes in Greece is large with a trend of further increase during the last twenty years. In 1958 there were operating 1351 drugstores in the whole country, where in 1985 the number increased to 5.994 i.e. a four-fold increase. The population density referring to a pharmacy changed radically. From a rate of 6.050 inhabitants corresponding to a drugstore the rate fell to 1.657 people and it continues to fall. There is a noticebly irregular spatial distribution of pharmacies in the whole country. In Athens, Attica and Thessaloniki the number of drugstores is very excessive. On the other hand there is or scarcity of pharmaceutical shops in some prefections and municipalities, like the prefectures of Thesprotia, Grevena and Eurytania. It is early to recognise a lack of official policy and planning procedures on the regulations concerning the licencing of drugstores in various areas of the country. This leads to serious problems on drug dispence and also it constitutes a big public health problem, mainly connected with consumption of medicaments.
