ΑΝΑΛΥΤΙΚΕΣ ΜΑΓΝΗΤΟΥΔΡΟΔΥΝΑΜΙΚΕΣ ΙΣΟΡΡΟΠΙΕΣ ΤΟΡΟΕΙΔΟΥΣ ΑΞΟΝΙΚΑ ΣΥΜΜΕΤΡΙΚΟΥ ΠΛΑΣΜΑΤΟΣ ΣΥΝΤΗΞΗΣ
Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THIS DISSERTATION, ANALYTIC SOLUTIONS OF THE TIME INDEPENDENT, AXIALLY SYMMETRIC EQUATIONS OF THE ONE-FLUID MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMICS ARE OBTAINED, WHICH DESCRIBE EQUILIBRIUM STATES OF THE TOKAMAK, THE REVERSED FIELD PINCH AND THE COMPACT TOROIDS. THE STUDY INCLUDES STATIC AND STATIONARY EQUILIBRIA, AS WELL AS FORCE FREE CONFIGURATIONS RELEVANT TO THE SPHEROMAK PLASMA RELAXATION. MORE SPECIFICALLY. FIRST, IN ORDER TO DERIVE STATIC EQUILIBRIA OF ARBITRARY ASPECT RATIO AND DIFFERENT POLOIDAL CROSS SECTIONAL SHAPES, THE GRAD-SHAFRANOV EQUATION IS SOLVED IN SPHERICAL, PROLATE SPHEROIDAL, OBLATE SPHEROIDAL AND PARABOLIC COORDINATES. FOR A GENERAL FAMILY OF EQUILIBRIA, THE AVERAGE BETA IS CALCULATED AND THE INTERVAL IN WHICH IT TAKES VALUES IS DETERMINED. SECOND, SEVERAL CLASSES OF STATIONARY EQUILIBRIA WITH TOROIDAL MASS FLOW ARE OBTAINED FOR ISOTHERMAL AS WELL ASISENTROPIC MAGNETIC SURFACES. IT IS SHOWN THAT FOR A FAMILY OF EQUILIBRIA, ANALOGOUS TO THE STATIC, THE AVERAGE BETA FALLS WITHIN THE SAME LIMITS. THE INFLUENCE OF FLOW ON THE PLASMA ELONGATION AND THE SAFETY FACTOR OF A TOKAMAK WITH FIXED AVERAGE TOROIDAL MAGNETIC ENERGY IS ALSO EXAMINED. THIRD, IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE TAYLOR RELAXATION THEORY, FORCE FREE CONFIGURATIONS OF A LOW BETA SPHEROMAK ARE STUDIED FOR VARIOUS SHAPES OF THE FLUX CONSERVER. A SIMPLE VERSION OF THE RELAXATION PROCESS IS PROPOSED WHICH IMPLIES THAT THE PLASMA RELAXES FROM MULTITOROIDAL FORMATIONS TO A SINGLE FIELD REVERSED CONFIGURATION .
