Abstract
dc:descriptionTHIS DISSERTATION PRESENTS A KINEMATICAL STUDY OF HUMAN WALKING BASED ON THE PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE. FOR ELEVEN SUBJECTS WE DETERMINED ALL LINEAR DISPLACEMENTS OF THE HUMAN BODY JOINTS ALONG THE X,Y,Z AXES, THE SAGITTAL ROTATION OF ARM, FOREARM, THIGH, LEG AND FOOT ABOUT THE VERTICAL, THE TRANSVERSE ROTATION OF THORAX AND PELVIS AND ALSO ROTATION OF THORAX AND PELVIS ABOUT THE X-AXES. WHEREASTHE ANALYSIS OF THE KINEMATICAL PARAMETERS SHOWED COMMON QUALITATIVE FEATURES FOR ALL THE SUBJECTS, THE QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS REVEALED A WIDE RANGE OF VALUES. FOR THE DESCRIPTION OF THE KINEMATICAL PARAMETERS A REPRESENTATIVE SUBJECT WAS CHOSEN. ON THE BASIS OF THE GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE KINEMATICAL PARAMETERS DURING A WALKING CYCLE, WE DESCRIBE THE QUALITATIVE FEATURES COMMON TO ALL SUBJECTS AND GIVE THE RANGE OF VALUES FOR THE ABOVE PARAMETERS. MOREOVER, A GRAPHICAL PRESENTATION OF THE VARIATION OF THE KINEMATICAL PARAMETERS FOR THE REST OF THE SUBJECTS IS GIVEN. THE OBJECTIVE OF PRESENTING THE RESULTS IN THE DESCRIBED MANNER, WAS ANABLE THE RECONSTRUCTION OF A WHOLE STEP FOR EACH OF THE ELEVEN SUBJECTS, VIA THE QUANTITATIVE CHANGE OF THE SPECIFIC PARAMETERS. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REVEAL VIA A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE DATA.
