THE TECHNIQUES USED UP TODAY DETERMINE THE FREE IRON OXIDES AND ALSO AZT THE SAME TIME THE FREE ALUMINUM OXIDES DUE TO THE LACK OF THE SPECIFIC METHOD. IN THIS PAPER A PROCEDURE IS PRESENTED WHICH EMPLOYS CATECHOL TO RECEIVE THE AL OF THE SOIL FREE OXIDES. THE CATECHOL WAS EMPLOYED BECAUSE OF ITS CAPACITY TO FORM COMPLEXES WITH ALUMINUM AND SILICON. SAMPLES OF AMORPHOUS ALUMINUM HYDROXIDES, SILICATE MINERALS AND ACID SOILS WERE TREATED REPEATEDLY WITH 50 ML OF 0,1M SOLUTION OF CATECHOL AT 80 CIN THE PRESENCE OF 1ML 5% NH3.THE EXTRACTED QUANTITIES OF AL AND FE WERE COMPARED WITH THOSE EXTRACTED BY THE CBD METHOD.
