ΦΑΣΜΑΤΟΣΚΟΠΙΑ ΔΙΕΓΕΡΜΕΝΩΝ ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΑΚΩΝ ΚΑΤΑΣΤΑΣΕΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΙΚΟΛΙΝΩΝ
Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE OBJECT OF THIS DISSERTATION HAS TO DO WITH THE SPECTROSCOPY OF THE EXCITED ELECTRONIC STATES OF PICOLINES (METHYLPYRIDINES). SPECIFICALLY THE ABSORPTION SPECTRA WERE RECORDED IN THE GAS PHASE IN THE REGION OF 4-9.5 JEV. FROM THESE WEMEASURED THE EXTINCTION COEFFICIENT AND THE OSCILLATOR STRENGTH FOR THE DIFFERENT MOLECULAR TRANSITIONS. WE MADE ALSO AN ANALYSIS OF THEIR VIBRATIONAL STRUCTURE AND WE COMPARED THEM WITH THE SPECTRA OF BENZENE, TOLUENE AND PYRIDINE. FROM THE LINE INTENSITY VARIATION OF THE RAMAN SPECTRA (WHICH WERE TAKEN IN THE LIQUID PHASE) WITH THE WAVELENGTH OF THE INCIDENT LASER LIGHT WE FOUND OUT THE EXISTENCE OF VIBRONIC COUPLING BETWEEN NΠ* AND THE FIRST EXCITED ΠΠ* ELECTRONIC STATE THROUGH THE NON-TOTALLY SYMMETRIC VIBRATION 10A. WE FOUND OUT ALSO THE CHANGE OF THE GEOMETRY OF THE FIRST, MOST PROBABLY EXCITED ΠΠ* ELECTRONIC STATE ALONG THE NORMAL COORDINATES OF THE TOTALLY SYMMETRIC VIBRATIONS 1 AND 12. FINALLY, THROUGH THE RESONANT MULTIPHOTON IONIZATION SPECTRA IN A STATIC CELL AND IN A SUPERSONIC BEAM, WE STUDIED 3S RYDBERG STATE AND WE ANALYSED ITS VIBRATIONAL STRUCTURE. THAT ANALYSIS PROVIDED SERIOUS INDICATIONS THAT THE HIGHER OCCUPIED MOLECULAR ORBITAL IS A Π-TYPE ONE IN 2- AND 3-PICOLINE IN OPPOSITION TO 4-PICOLINE AND THE OTHER AZOAROMATICS WHERE IT IS AN N-TYPE ONE.
