ΠΟΛΛΑΠΛΟΤΗΤΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΩΚΥΤΗΤΕΣ ΦΟΡΤΙΣΜΕΝΩΝ ΣΩΜΑΤΩΝ ΠΟΥ ΠΑΡΑΓΟΝΤΑΙ ΣΕ ΑΛΛΗΛΕΠΙΔΡΑΣΕΙΣ ΠΡΩΤΟΝΙΩΝ-ΑΝΤΙΠΡΩΤΟΝΙΩΝ ΕΝΕΡΓΕΙΑΣ 200, 546 ΚΑΙ 900 GEV ΣΤΟ ΚΕΝΤΡΟ ΜΑΖΑΣ

STUDIES OF PROTON-ANTIPROTON INTERACTIONS AT HIGH ENERGIES (200- 900 GEV AT CENTER OF MASS)ARE PRESENTED FOR THE CHARGED PARTICLE MULTIPLICITY AND RAPIDITY DISTRIBUTIONS. THE BASIC INFORMATION FOR THE CERN SPPS COLLIDER IS GIVEN AND THE EXPERIMENTAL SET-UP OF THE UA5 COLLABORATION IS DESCRIBED.THE METHOD OF TAKING AND ANALYSING THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA IS DESCRIBED. KNO SCALING VIOLATION IS VERIFIED. THE MEAN CHARGED MULTIPLICITY OF NON SINGLE DIFFRACTIVE EVENTS (NSD) IS: <N>=21.4+0.2 FOR 200 GEV, <N>=29.8+0.2FOR 546 GEV AND <N>=35.6+0.2 FOR 900 GEV.THE MEAN MULTIPLICITY IS FOUND TO INCREASE WITH ENERGY LIKE: <N>=2.7-0.03 1N(S)+0.176 1N2(S) OR <N>=-7.0+7.2 S0.127. THE NEGATIVE BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION (NBD)APPROXIMATES WELL THE CHARGED PARTICLE MULTIPLICITY DISTRIBUTIONS AT 200 AND 546 GEV WITH PARAMETERS: K=4.8, <N>=21.2 AND K=4.1,<N>=29.6 RESPECTIVELY. AT 900GEV THE BEST FIT IS OBTAINED WITH THE PARAMETERS K=3.7 AND <N>=35.2 BUT IS NOTSATISFACTORY. THE OPTIMIZATION METHOD USING THE MAXIMUM ENTROPY PRINCIPLE IS APPLIED IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE OBSERVED MULTIPLICITY DISTRIBUTIONS. THE RESULTSOF THREE THEORETICAL MODELS FOR PARTICLE PRODUCTION IN HADRON-HADRON COLLISIONS (PYTHIA, FRITIOF AND ABR) ARE COMPARED WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF UA5 AND SHOW RATHER GOOD AGREEMENT. THE FEYNMAN SCALING OF THE RAPIDITY DISTRIBUTIONS IS NOT VALID AT CENTER OF MASS ENERGIES GREATER THAN 200 GEV. THE CENTRAL PARTICLE DENSITY OF THE RAPIDITY DISTRIBUTION P(0) INCREASES WITH ENERGY FOLLOWINGPOWER OR LOGARITHMIC LAW: P(0)=0.74 50.105 OR P(0)=0.01+0.22 1N(S). THE WIDTH OF THE RAPIDITY DISTRIBUTION INCREASES SLOWLY WITH ENERGY. THE RESULTS OF THE THREE THEORETICAL MODELS ABOVE ARE COMPARED WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF UA5CONCERNING THE RAPIDITY DISTRIBUTIONS. THE ABR MODEL GIVES THE MOST REASONABLEFIT.
