ΧΑΡΑΚΤΗΡΙΣΤΙΚΕΣ ΠΑΡΑΜΕΤΡΟΙ ΣΕΙΣΜΙΚΗΣ ΠΗΓΗΣ ΜΕ ΤΗ ΜΕΘΟΔΟ ΤΗΣ ΑΝΤΙΣΤΡΟΦΗΣ ΤΩΝ ΚΥΜΑΤΩΝ ΧΩΡΟΥ: ΕΛΛΑΔΑ ΚΑΙ Η ΕΥΡΥΤΕΡΗ ΠΕΡΙΟΧΗ ΤΗΣ
Abstract
dc:descriptionTWENTY FIVE, MODERATE AND LARGE GREEK EARTHQUAKES HAVE BEEN ANALYZED TO YIELD SOURCE PARAMETERS. AN INVERSION TECHNIQUE OF TELESEISMIC BODY WAVES WAS USED FORRECORDINGS AT 30-90. RECORDING FROM 12-16 STATIONS OF P AND SH WAVEFORMS HAVE BEEN INVERTED SIMULTANEOUSLY, TO GIVE FOCAL MECHANISMS, SOURCE DURATION, RAPTURE COMPLEXITY, SEISMIC MOMENT AND STRESS DROP. FIVE AREAS HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED IN THE GREEK REGION WITH SEPARATE SOURCE PROPERTIES. EARTHQUAKES CAUSED BY NORMAL FAULTING HAVE RELATIVELY SIMPLE RAPTURE PROCESS COMPARED TO THE ONES DUE TO TRANSFORM FAULTS AND DURATION OF THE SOURCE CLOSE TO 10 SEC. EARTHQUAKES AT DEPTHS MORE THAN 25 KM ARE IMPULSIVE IN THEIR RAPTURE PROCESS. THE COMPUTED AVERAGESTRESS DROP IS AT LEAST ONE ORDER OF MAGNITUDE LESS THAN THE STRESS DROP CALCULATED FOR THE INDIVIDUAL ASPERITIES RECOGNIZED IN THE RAPTURE PROCESS. SOURCE PARAMETERS HAVE BEEN CALCULATED WITH THE MOST RELIABLE COMPUTATIONAL TECHNIQUE TO DATE.
