IN THIS STUDY I INVESTIGATED THE LYMPHOCYTE SUBPOPULATIONS IN THE BLOOD OF PATIENTS WITH MEGALOBLASTIC ANEMIA AND THE IN VITRO EFFECT OF STEROIDS ON T-LYMPHOCYTES OF THESE PATIENTS. THE RATIO OF HELPER TO SUPPRESSOR T-CELLS IN PATIENTS WITH PERNICIOUS ANEMIA WAS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED . THIS WAS DUE MAINLY TO A DEFICIENCY OF CIRCULATING SUPPRESSOR T-CELLS AND SECONDARILY TO AN INCREASE OF HELPER T-CELLS. VITAMIN BIZ THERAPY CAN NOT RESTORE THE ABNORMAL H/S RATIO. I ALSO FOUND A SLIGHT, NOT SIGNIFICANT, OF NATURAL KILLER (NK) CELLS, IN PATIENTS WITH PERNICIOUS ANEMIA.
