Abstract
dc:descriptionIN THIS THESIS THE KINETICS OF NICKEL EXTRACTION FROM AN HEMATITIC-TYPE LATERITE DURING LEACHING WITH SULFURIC ACID IS STUDIED. AFTER THE LOCALISATION OF THE NICERAL PHASE WITH WHICH NICKEL IS CONNECTED, THE INFLUENCE OF THE MACROSCOPIC VARIABLES AFFECTING THE SYSTEM (CONCENTRATION, TEMPERATURE, ARTICLE SIZE) ON THE PREDOMINANT MECHANISM, THE RECOVERY AND THE RATE EXTRACTION IS EXAMINED, MAINLY WITH INITIAL VALUES OF THE LATER. THEN, THE KINETICS PARAMETERS CHARACTERIZING THE SYSTEM ARE CALCULATED; THE ORDER "N" OF THE REACTION WITH RESPECT TO THELIQUID CONCENTRATION (SULFURIC ACID), THE SPECIFIC RATE CONSTANT KS, THE ACTIVATION ENERGY E AND THE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT KM. FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE NICKEL EXTRACTION MECHANISM, BESIDES THE PRECEEDING CONCLUSIONS, THE REDUCEDTIME VALUES T/T0.5 AND THE RESULTS OF DIAGNOSTIC EQUATIONS' APPLICATION ARE USED. THESE DATA AND THE ANALYSIS OF THE KINETIC CURVES (RECOVERY VERSUS TIME) WHICH SHOWED THE EXISTENCE OF A MAXIMUM FOR THE RATE, LEAD TO THE DETERMINATION OF THE CONNECTION-TIME FUNCTION THAT VERIFIES THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND CONSTITUTES THE EXPRESSION FOR THE INTERACTION MECHANISM BETWEEN SOLID AND FLUID.
