ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΔΥΝΑΜΙΚΩΝ ΜΟΝΤΕΛΩΝ ΜΑΓΝΗΤΙΚΩΝ ΠΕΔΙΩΝ ΜΕ ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΗ ΣΤΗΝ ΜΑΓΝΗΤΟΣΦΑΙΡΑ
Abstract
dc:descriptionA NEW ANALYTIC MODEL IS PROPOSED FOR THE DESCRIPTION OF THE EARTH'S MAGNETOSPHERE. THIS MODEL IS A SUPERPOSITION OF THE FIELD OF A DIPOLE AND A TAIL FIELD. ONE OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE LATER IS A UNIFORM MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE SAME DIRECTION WITH THE MAGNETIC DIPOLE'S MOMENT. THE PICTURE WHICH IS DERIVED FROM THIS MODEL AGREES QUALITATIVELY WITH THIS OF THE MAGNETOSPHERE WHICH IS ACCEPTED TODAY AND WHICH IS BASED, AMONG OTHER THINGS, ON THE OBSERVATIONS COLLECTED RECENTLY BY SATELLITES. MOREOVER THE MODEL PROVIDED, UNDER SPECIFIC CONDITIONS, NON EQUATORIAL NEUTRAL POINTS (CUSP POINTS). IN THE FIELD OF THIS MODEL THE EQUATORIAL MOTION OF CHARGED PARTICLES IS STUDIED AND PERIODIC AND ASYMPTOTIC ORBITS AREDETERMINED. THE SUPERPOSITION OF THE DIPOLE FIELD WITH A UNIFORM MAGNETIC FIELD PARALLEL TO THE DIPOLE MAGNETIC MOMENT IS A PARTICULAR APPROXIMATION OF THE ABOVE MODEL. IN THIS CASE THE CONJUCATION BETWEEN CLOSED AND INTERPLANETARY MAGNETIC FIELD LINES IS SHOWN AND THE ALLOWED REGIONS OF MOTION OF CHARGED PARTICLES ARE GIVEN. THE ADIABATIC THEORY IS APPLIED AND THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE OF THE NUMERICAL INTERGRATION OF THE EQUATIONS OF MOTION.
