ΒΙΟΜΕΤΡΙΚΗ ΚΑΙ ΚΥΤΤΑΡΟΛΟΓΙΚΗ ΜΕΛΕΤΗ ΤΟΥ ΓΕΝΟΥΣ FRITILLARIA L. ΣΤΗΝ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ
Abstract
dc:descriptionTHE PRESENT STUDY REPORTS THE RESULTS OF A BIOMETRICAL AND CYTOLOGICAL WORK 17 SPECIES OF THE GENUS FRITILLARIA ( LILIACEAE) IN GREECE. MULTIVARIATE TECHNIQUES, SUCH AS PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS AND CLUSTER ANALYSIS WERE USED TO EVALUATE THE PHENETIC SIMILARITIES AMONG THE SPECIES. (40 POPLUATION SAMPLES BY USING 22 VARIABLES) F. GRAECA, DUE TO ITS GREAT GEOGRAPHICAL VARIATION WAS STUDIED SEPARATELY USING DISCRIMINANT ANALYSES. (38 POPULATIONS -11 VARIABLES). FROM THE CYTOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW ALTHOUGH THE KARYOTYPE IN ALMOST ALL SPECIES APPEARS STABLE (2 PAIRS OF METACENTRIC-SUBMETACENTRIC AND 10 PAIRS OF ACROCENTRICATELOCENTRIC CHROMOSOMES) A GREAT VARIATION WAS OBSERVED BOTH AT INTER AND INTRA SPECIFIC LEVEL (71 POPULATIONS WERE EXAMINED). THE DATA DERIVED FROM THE BIOMETRICAL AND CYTOLOGICAL STUDIES WERE IN CLOSE AGREEMENT AND INDICATED THE FOLLOWING: 1) SUBSPECIES (AND 1 VARIETY) ARE RECOGNIZED WITHIN THE SPECIES F.GRAECA. 2) IT IS PROPOSED THAT F.TUNTASIA BE REDUCED TO SUBSPECIFIC STATUS AS F. OBLIQUA 3) A NEW SUBSPECIES OF POSSIBLE HYDRID ORIGIN (F. RHODOCANAKIS SUBSPARGOLICA) ISTHE ORIGIN AND DIVERSITY OF THE GREEK ENDEMIC SPECIES OF THE GENUS IS DISCUSSED.
